Charity No. 306025
The Dockland Settlement would like to thank all our runners for their determination, dedication and courage for running the 26 miles Virgin London Marathon on Sunday 17th April 2011. The weather was very hot and many Elite and Club Runners had to withdraw, but not our runners, they kept on pushing themselves round the course so that our charity could benefit from their fund-raising. I hope you all have wonderful stories and memories to keep of the day and the much needed funds you raised will go directly to providing services to the local community within each of our Centres. The final figure raised will be put on the website as soon as we get them. A special thank you to Gina Markatis who has raised £3,860 on her own.

The Charity Golf Day at Hadley Wood was a huge success all round. Dockland Settlements are extremely grateful to all the players who came along and took part– not only in the 18 hole shotgun start tournament but the auction and raffle which helped us raise a staggering £10,000. A special thank you also goes out to the hole sponsors, teams who brought prizes for the raffle and the staff at Hadley Wood for helping the day run so smoothly.
After a shotgun start and 18 holes with tricky greens at Hadley Wood, the eventual winners were “The Locals” – a team made up of players from the Club. As ‘The Locals’ have won the previous three years and know the course very well, Nick Meyer (Dockland Settlements Chairman) decided somewhat controversially to hand the first place prize to the second place team Blue Fin, followed by Rooff and Stratford Strollers. Nick also challenged ‘The Locals’ to a round of Golf at Nick’s local club which they readily accepted

Eighteen holes of match or medal play will teach you more about your foe than will 18 years of dealing with him across a desk.
